Posters

the assignment

Design posters for a variety of artistic events for Stevenson University’s exhibition office to encourage students to come to the events.

the process & the challenge

SLOW GROWTH

After being given the logo and several images, I picked the close-up image to have space to put the exhibition information. By adding the black growth lines in Illustrator, it became the perfect spot to offer contrast for the yellow logo while adding leading lines between image, meaning, and text.

MAD AS HELL

For this poster, color scheme and title were created based on Mia Halton’s subject focus , which was talking, Me Too movement, and figures. A certain image was used on the postcard, and to tie it to the poster, one of the figures from the image was used on the poster to shout the exhibition information.

REPURPOSEFUL

Here I was inspired by the quilted pattern of the main image. Because of that inspiration, the additional images I added were placed like fabric squares lined up with the sammler squares and the font was adapted to look like it had been stiched on.

UNRULY BODIES

There was only one image to work with, and since it was the main show pieces, it had to be used. Additionally, I was told to use Helvetica as the font. The two influences to make this poster unique were the use of circles reflecting the shape of the mouths and the gradient color of the mouths. Clear heirarchy also played a dominant role in this design.

OLD NEW

Under the direction of one of the professors in charge of the faculty showcase in 2019, we created the title design, the pattern, and layout. This poster is font based because there were no images to choose from.

2020 FACULTY EXHIBITION

In 2020 the annual faculty exhbition came around again. This time the only instructions I recieved was that it should be different than last years and keep the imagery general enough that it could be representing any any art media. My personal goals was to create a dynamic poster with clear hierarchy.
